Housekeeper

Job Type: Full-time

Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and the facility by performing the following duties:

  • Dust furniture, light fixtures, lamps, window ledges, air conditioner units, etc.
  • Empty and change liners in all waste cans daily or when needed.
  • Clean and wash all basins, commodes, lavatories and fixtures.
  • Clean and dust resident rooms daily.
  • Dust, clean, and vacuum Administrative Offices daily during the week.
  • Vacuum lobby and waiting areas daily.
  • Obey all safety and working rules of the facility at all times.
  • Other duties as required

Candidates are required to have a valid driver’s license and feel comfortable working around pets.

Supply Clerk

Job Type: Full-time

Maintain and put out medical supplies for skilled care, assisted living and memory care. Orbits program is used for supplies. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain supply rooms on all floors
  • Assist Health Services Coordinator in maintaining the Orbits System.
  • Scan supplies that are put out each day for all residents.
  • Put supplies up after they come in from ordering
  • Supplies must be unboxed and put on shelves by the next day they come in.
  • Help maintain inventory in Central Supply.
  • Inventory must be counted in each residents’ home.
  • Other duties as required
  • Adhere to Corporate Compliance as stated in the Standards of Conduct . Adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding the Protected Health Information (PHI) of the residents and employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Job Type: Full Time

To work in cooperation with any nursing assistant, nurses, and other departments in meeting the needs of the resident. Call the Nurse with emergencies of residents. Coordinate with the Health Services. Coordinator any changes with a resident. To attend in-service training as scheduled. To follow facility policies and procedures in all areas of resident care. To observe North Carolina Nursing Home Patient’s Bill of Rights always. To be constantly aware of any safety hazards and assist in correcting them as appropriate. To be very professional in conversation with residents and their families. To provide personal care services to residents as appropriate to their needs and directed by the supervisor. To notify the nurse immediately of any changes in resident’s condition. To immediately report to the nurse any accident or incident involving the Nursing Assistant and/or the resident. To prudently use supplies and equipment needed in the care of the resident. Works 40 hours a week & every other weekend. This position is located in our Assisted Living area.

  • Relays order to back line and serves courses from kitchen
  • Observe diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed
  • Clears and resets tables at conclusion of each course

Painter-Facility General Maintenance Technician- Entry Level

Job Type: Full-time

Performs general maintenance on the interior and exterior of the building by performing the following duties:

  • Completes painting assignments according to established deadlines and to established standards, including surface preparation.
  • Performs weekly and monthly vehicle maintenance. Coordinates oil changes and annual inspections. Reports additional vehicle maintenance needs to the Team Leader.
  • Completes general Work Orders timely and thoroughly to meet assigned deadlines and standards.
  • Completes Function set-ups and break-downs.
  • Completes resident level-of-care moves timely and thoroughly to meet assigned deadlines and standards.
  • Attend in-service education programs on a monthly basis.
  • On call for emergencies.
  • Participate in fire drills.
  • Keep the facility safe and clean.
  • Serve as First Responder. Will provide immediate first aide care to residents/employees and visitors in accordance with guidelines of the Heart Saver First Aid Course. (See First Responder Policy)

Unit Secretary/CNA

Job Type: Full-time

Performs clerical duties to maintain an organized healthcare/assisted living unit. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists with admissions by preparing medical record for each new admission. Obtains and records appropriate information to set up medical record/chart. Ensures each new resident has name on door, is listed in care tracker and call system.
  • Process admissions – Ensures room is clean and ready for admission with necessary furniture. Label charts, notify necessary departments, makes sure all personal items are labeled on day of admission if going into semi private room
  • Copies information such as patient’s temperature, pulse rate, and blood pressure from nurses’ records onto patient’s medical records.
  • Completes necessary work orders for housekeeping and maintenance issues
  • Transcribes orders to MAR/TAR for orders and treatments Ensures dietary is informed of all diet changes. Ensures lab requisitions and lab schedule are maintained up to date.
  • Keeps file of medical records on patients in unit neat and orderly. Files related documents in correct locations.
  • Audit and maintain the active medical chart in an efficient and organized manner.
  • Schedules resident appointments and coordinates transportation to MD office. Make copies of records for resident who leave the facility for appointments.
  • Requisitions supplies designated by nursing staff.
  • Answers telephone and provides information or relays messages to patients and medical staff.
  • Maintains up to date names and information on all documents relating to residents care
  • Transports patients in wheelchair or conveyance to locations within facility.
  • Provide assistance to residents and family members using appropriate interventions
  • Must interact courteously, tactfully and politely with managers, co-workers, residents, vendors or associates to preserve productivity and moral.
  • Will be required to assist as needed on Long Term Care and Assisted living.

 

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Prefer Certified Unit Secretary or 6 months to one year months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic computer skills required. Experience with MS word or excel helpful Must be CPR certified within 30 days of employment and maintain certification. Maintain CNA certification.

Facility Maintenance Technician/Carpentry

Assist with refurbishment/ renovation of residences and common areas. Perform carpentry work required for refurbishments. Perform light plumbing and electrical work required for refurbishments. On call for emergencies. Participate in Fire Drills. Keep facility safe and clean. Follow established safety rules. Snow removal.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell due to the life safety and security issues required in this position. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Med Tech/CNA

Job Type: Part-time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications that have been ordered by the physician and that are listed on the Medication Administration Record, (MAR) verify that medications on MAR are correct by checking the original order against the transcribed order on the MAR.
  • Administer routine controlled drugs and maintain accurate record of controlled drug inventory
  • Accurately record administration of all medications on MAR, discard medication that is refused or otherwise not given and record reason for omission on MAR
  • Check medication labels for accuracy and be aware of expiration dates- remove any expired medication for the medication cart and reorder from the pharmacy
  • Keep medication cart clean and orderly
  • Take vital signs as needed and observe residents for any change in condition – Immediately report any change in condition to licensed nurse
  • Reorder medications as needed from pharmacy
  • Report any medication errors to the charge nurse; refer any questions regarding medications to the charge nurse
  • Maintain approved infection control procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information of residents
  • Answer phone and call lights
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living. May need to transfer, transport, weigh and assist residents as needed at mealtimes as well as throughout the day.

Must be certified by the state of NC to pass medications in an Adult Care Home. Must also be certified by the state as a Nursing Assistant I or II. Prior experience passing medications in an adult care home is preferred.

Volunteers and Interns

We are thankful for the many volunteers and interns who offer their time and talents to serve our residents. Many of Cypress Glen’s volunteers have been working with the community for years, forming meaningful relationships with residents through community event preparation and administrative assistance. Industrious interns have started their retirement community careers with valuable learning opportunities in our marketing, administrative, life enrichment, and health care departments.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers may find themselves calling bingo, walking with residents outside on our walking trail, singing karaoke, reading to residents, playing cards, assisting with crafts, or spending one-on-one time with a resident. Whatever the activity, these interactions offer fulfillment and enrichment for both volunteers and residents.

Internship Opportunities

As a teaching community, Cypress Glen provides numerous opportunities to fulfill college service learning hours. We will work with you to find areas of service that you will find rewarding and will help you gain useful experience to jump-start your chosen retirement community career.

Next Steps

If you wish to volunteer, please download and fill out our volunteer application and send it to our Life Enrichment Volunteer Coordinator. A Life Enrichment Associate will contact you for volunteer orientation to begin service training. Every volunteer must attend a volunteer orientation/tour of the community. The orientation takes about 30-45 minutes and is usually scheduled twice each month. We do ask that all volunteers serve a minimum of 15 hours. Please note our available service hours are Monday-Friday, 8:45 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
