About Us

Cypress Glen opened in 1987, beginning with a 10-bed skilled nursing and 13-bed Assisted Living health care center. The community has not stopped growing ever since. The coming years saw additions to the health care center — including a new 12-room Memory Care Cottage — as well as opportunity-rich Independent Living for active seniors. With the continuing goal of serving residents to the best of our abilities, this unique community has grown to become the premier retirement community in Eastern North Carolina.

Cypress Glen is the only Life Plan/Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in the area. A Life Plan Community is a desirable type of senior living community that provides active independent living, as well as a continuum of senior care services, making residents’ transitions much easier should their health needs change in the future.

With the support and resources of UMRH and Life Care Services®, Cypress Glen’s senior living management partner, our community is able to provide a top-tier resident experience and financial stability.

Owned and Operated by United Methodist Retirement Homes

Our not-for-profit parent organization, United Methodist Retirement Homes (UMRH), was created in 1955 when 13 senior adults chose to create a better retirement for themselves. Today, UMRH is comprised of three senior living communities — serving more than 1,100 residents and working with 650 employees.
